A TEENAGER who saved her sisters as fire ripped through the family home has been hailed a hero.

Natalie Williams, aged 15, was looking after her four
little sisters at home in Credenhill while her parents, Catherine and Allan
Williams, popped to the village shops.

When a fire started in the front room, level headed Natalie got everyone outside
and phoned her parents.

She then went back inside to rescue Roxie the African grey parrot, Mika the
Staffordshire bull terrier and the family’s new kitten.

“She saved everyone’s lives,” said Catherine.

“I am one very proud mum.”

Firefighters believe a burning candle on a windowsill set fire to a curtain, then engulfed a nearby sofa last Wednesday morning.

The flames were so fierce they melted through the television and Allan’s weight-lifting machine, then spread upstairs where, just minutes earlier, Rachel, aged 12,
Gemma, 10, Caitlin, nine, and Hannah, seven, had been playing.

While Natalie’s quickthinking actions were described as heroic by one neighbour, the modest Whitecross High School student said she “just made sure everyone was out”.

“My sisters were crying and panicking but I just wanted to get everyone out and make sure they were ok," she added.
