Hereford paramedic Lincoln Dodd used his towering height to save a couple from a flat fire.

Standing 6ft 8in tall, the human ladder was one of the first emergency workers to reach a flat fire in Belmont last September.

When the couple trapped inside were unable to use the door, Lincoln - nicknamed Tiny by his mates – convinced them to clamber out of a first-floor window and onto his shoulders with just seconds to spare.

He had them both down by the time firefighters and police arrived.

This week Lincoln's selfless act was rewarded with a chief officer’s commendation from West Mercia Ambulance Service.
