Police have named the two men who were killed following two separate accidents in the county over the weekend.

Harold Yapp, who is in his late 70s, died after he was in collision with a Vauxhall car on the A465 in Burley Gate shortly before 12.45am on Saturday.

Mr Yapp was walking along the road, while the car was travelling towards Bromyard.

Emergency services were called immediately, but although Mr Yapp was treated at the scene by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.

No arrests have been made as a result of the collision.

Meanwhile, the motorcyclist who died on the A49 near Ashton yesterday has been named as Christopher Jones.

The 37-year-old, who is from Shropshire, was travelling towards Ludlow when he came off his Honda motorbike and was thrown onto the verge of the road, near Ashwood Farm, shortly before 2.15pm yesterday.

Emergency services were called, but Mr Jones was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say that it appears that no other vehicle was directly involved in the accident.

The A49 was closed for several hours following the crash as officers conducted investigative work.

Anyone with information about either crash should call police on 0300 333 3000.
