PARISH COUNCIL - On January 19, Stretton Grandison Group parish councillors decided to set the 2012/13 precept at £2,000. With the Queen’s diamond jubilee in June it is hoped that there will be a local celebration and the council plans to give every local school child a commemorative coin, medal or similar. Parents of children up to 16 years of age living in Canon Frome, Stretton Grandison, Frome and Eggleton are invited to contact the parish clerk on 01432 820074 or via parishclerk@ymail.com if they would like them to be included. Suggestions as to the form that celebrations should take are also being sought, together with volunteers to run them. At the same meeting a group of residents raised concerns about the number of planning applications leading to the felling of trees in the parishes. County councillor Patricia Morgan agreed to arrange a site visit with Andrew Ashcroft, the head of planning, to discuss the points raised. There remains an outstanding vacancy for a councillor to represent Stretton Grandison. Anyone wishing to apply, or wanting to find out more, is asked to contact the clerk as above.
