A BUSINESS on the Rotherwas Industrial Estate was evacuated after fire broke out on Saturday.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Recue Service was called to a fire at an industrial unit in Netherwood Road at about 1.30am after staff found toxic smoke coming from a large industrial oven.

Station commander Neil Pigott said: “The fire had broken out in electrics in a cavity at the top of the oven and its position, combined with the toxic smoke given off from burning insulation material, made it a difficult fire to tackle.”

With support from company engineers who helped the fire crews dismantle the oven to could gain access to the flames, the blaze was under control by 4am.

No-one was injured.
