HALLOWE’EN - Tiny Tigers playgroup in Knucklas Community Centre celebrated Hallowe’en by having a party. Children were dressed in a variety of costumes, there were decorations around the hall and a large selection of Hallowe’en goodies to eat. The children also played games and danced to a selection of their favourite tunes.

BUMPS AND BABIES - Knighton Bumps and Babies met recently in the clinic at Knighton Hospital. Because it was the last day for several of their young members, parents decided to have a dressing-up party. The group, run by health visitors, meets every Monday from 9.45am till 11.30am.

CONCERT - Knighton and District Concert Society presents The Holy Boy on November 27 at 3pm in St Edward’s Church Hall. The coming of Christmas will be celebrated through the performance of English 20thcentury songs, poetry and prose with Graham Trew (baritone), and friends Rosamund Shelley (actor/soprano), James Bowman (counter-tenor), Richard Lewis (tenor) and David Williams (piano). FOOD AND CRAFT MARKET - The next market is on Saturday at the Knighton Community Centre from 9.30am to 1pm. Details of revised Christmas market dates can be found at kfcmarket.com.

100 CLUB - The latest Knighton Town Silver Band 100 Club winners are Holly Milward winning £25, Edna Wear winning £10 and Carolyn Price winning £6.

SLOE GIN COMPETITION -Get picking if you want to enter the George and Dragon Sloe Gin competition between Christmas and New Year. More details will be released later.

COFFEE - The first Christmas event of the year in Knighton will be the annual Catholic Church Christmas coffee morning, at the church hall on Saturday from 10.30am to noon. Entry £1 to include coffee and mince pies.

LIVE MUSIC - Soul Supply will be at Knighton Football Club on Saturday at 9.30pm. All proceeds will be divided between Hope House Children’s Hospice and the East Radnor Day Centre, Presteigne. Tickets £10 in advance from Top to Toe in Knighton or Emily’s tea rooms in Presteigne. £12.50 on the door.

SING - There will be a sing for fun session with Marion Rowlett at the church hall on November 25 starting at 10.30am.

WHIST - The next whist drive is on November 17 in the bowling club house at 7.30pm.

CHURCH COFFEE MORNING - At a coffee morning held recently in the church hall £281 was raised for St Edward’s Church.

Raffle winners were Judith Dyke, Mike Conway, Cathy Reeves, Iris Leeson and Ken Harris.

CHURCH SERVICES FOR SUNDAY - Knighton and District Churches together, 11am act of remembrance at the Cenotaph followed by a service in St Edward’s Church at 11.15am led by Rev John Hanna, preacher Rev Maggie Rich and prayers Rev Pauline Long.

St David’s, Whitton, 10.15am Remembrance Service led by John Clements. St Andrew’s, Norton, 10.45am remembrance and morning worship led by Rev Gordon Mansfield.

HEARTSTOCK - The third Radnor Hills Heartstock held in September was the most successful charity rock festival so far, raising £6,878 for St Michael’s Hospice. Despite the rain this year spirits were not dampened and Radnor Hills staff, family and friends turned up in their hundreds to support the event held at Heartsease, Knighton. A true festival atmosphere was created with a bonfire, wrist bands, ponchos and wellies and a fully lighted stage for the acts. Most people dressed up in the fancy dress rock theme.

STALL - Mary Niblock, her granddaughter, Ellie Niblock and family friend, Lynne Colledge had a stall outside Spar in Knighton last weekend selling homemade jars of pickles, chutney and jam plus other items. They also sold raffle tickets and raised £1,198 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Mary’s granddaughter, Ellie’s sister Jenna, is undergoing treatment there for a brain tumour and Lynne’s daughter was saved by treatment at the hospital 17 years ago. Raffle winners were Peter Medlilcott, Ann Vogel, Mike Shaw and Teresa Jackson.

MEDAL HAUL - Two young members of the Samurai Red Dragon Karate Club in Knighton have recently returned from the European championships in Berlin. Sophie Vingoe came back with three gold medals and one bronze and Stephen Loat came back with a silver and bronze medal. Other club members have moved up a grade when they were graded during a black belt grading session.
