IT is more than 40 years since Brecon Cathedral Singers was established by David Gedge, who retired five years ago.
The choir is now directed by Richard West, director of music at Christ College, Brecon, and broadening its repertoire to include Abba and Simon and Garfunkel numbers as well as arrangements of traditional spirituals.
From September the choir will perform as The Brecon Singers. On Saturday, November 19, the choir will present a performance of Handel’s Messiah in Brecon Cathedral – and everyone is invited to join in.
If you’ve sung Messiah before and would like to do so again then join the choir on November 19 from 11am when an ‘all day’ rehearsal will take you through to the performance in the evening.
If you are less familiar with the work, but would still like to join in, you will be welcome at weekly rehearsals, starting on Wednesday, September 7.
