Presteigne FUN DAY - Presteigne football club are holding a fun day and beer festival at Llanadras Park on Sunday, August 28, from 12 midday onwards. There will be a car boot (booters please do not arrive before 11.30am), junior and over 40s football matches, barbecue, over 10 ales and ciders, inflatables, ice creams, games, competitions, duck drop, trade stands, stalls, cakes plus live music featuring Smoke Like A Fish and The Lone Wolves. EXHIBITION - There is an exhibition of the works of Cecily Sash at The Workhouse Gallery on the industrial estate from August 19 until September 3, from 10-4pm daily Tuesday to Saturday. Cecily is an internationally renowned South African artist who has a studio in Presteigne. FLOWER FESTIVAL - The Annual Lingen Flower Festival will take place over the bank holiday weekend from August 27-29, at St Michaels and All Angel Church in Lingen from 10-5pm daily. For further details call 267853.

EXHIBITION - There is an exhibition of art at The Old Farm house in Lingen opposite The Royal George Pub from August 27 until August 29. The exhibitors include James Connolly- sculptor, Richard Studer- prints, Jane Judge- mixed media and Bronte Woodruff- paintings. The exhibition is open from 10.30-6pm on the Saturday and Sunday and 10.30-5pm on the bank holiday Monday. Refreshments will be available. SPORTSMANS EVENING - Dave "Harry" Bassett is the special guest at a sportsman evening at Presteigne Football Club on Thursday, August 25, from 7pm. Harry will be talking about his life as a football manager. This will be followed by a question and answer session. There will be a grand auction including signed shirts by Pele and Gareth Bale. Bids can be placed prior to the evening by contacting Tom on 267091. Tickets cost only £10 which will include a free buffet.

KEEP FIT - Instructor Carol Bowen is running keep fit classes at The Royal British Legion Club on Tuesday evenings from 6.30-7.30pm. Come along and enjoy exercise to music standing or sat down and meet new faces at the same time. Sessions cost £3.50 and everyone is welcome. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a drink.

DARTS - The Annual Mike Dixon Memorial Cup was played for at the football club earlier this month with over 25 pairs playing on five boards. The Memorial Cup was won by Ben Amos and Jim Williams who also picked up the first prize of £200 for their troubles. They beat last years winners John Roberts and Neil Astley 5-4 in the final. Roberts and Astley also won £100 as runners up. In fact it was a reversal of last years final. The organisers would like to thank everyone behind the scenes for their help. The Annual competition is held on the first Sunday of August each year!

MUSIC - Local band Earl Grey and The Tea Leaves will be playing Rand B and jazz in The Walled Garden at No 46 Wine Bar on Sunday afternoon from 3-6pm. Then on Thursday, 24 jazz trio Sunspot will be performing from 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome to both events.

FESTIVAL - The Annual Presteigne Festival will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday, August 25, until Monday 30 August at venues in and around the Presteigne area. SING A LONG - Marion Rowlatt is having two sing a long sessions on Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday both starting at 3pm in Lingen Methodist Chapel Admission will be £3 per session and everyone is most welcome.

COFFEE MORNINGS - East Radnor Day Centre invite you to drop in and have a coffee on weekday mornings from 10.30-11.30am. Everyone is most welcome to drop in and see what happens at the day centre and have a look around. Coffee/tea and biscuits cost £2 and you can have as many cups as you like. The centre staff will be available to answer any questions you require.

100 CLUB - The football club wish to let everyone know that the August 100 club draw in the Farmers on Friday, August 26, is the last draw in the current year. Subscriptions for next year are now due. The cost is £25 for the year. This covers 12 monthly draws, drawn around the pubs on the last Friday of each month.
