Herefordshire companies will be given a unique insight into embracing social media marketing when one of the sector’s leading figures hosts an interactive workshop.

Hallam Communications’ Susan Hallam has teamed up with Business Link West Midlands to help more than 40 firms make the most of a growing trend that is estimated to be worth billions to the economy.

The senior lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and now self-made entrepreneur will aim to guide companies through the intricate nature of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and the art of blogging.

Held at the Three Counties Hotel on June 9th, the workshop is free of charge and will be full of practical tips, ranging from identifying quick wins to managing your reputation online and the development of a pro-active social media strategy.

Helen Goring, Head of Marketing and events at Business Link West Midlands, believes it is important that companies embrace this low-cost form of marketing sooner rather than later.

"We are hearing all the time about social media and we are finding that a lot of firms want to take advantage but don’t know where to start," she said.

"This event is suitable for both novices and those that have already made a start and have been designed to show how this new form of marketing can help boost profile, encourage better customer relationships and increase sales."

The Social Media Marketing for Business event starts at 9.15am and lasts until 1pm and, in addition to the workshops, there will be the opportunity to network and meet with specialist advisers to discuss more ongoing support.
