THE Garway Folk Weekend kicks off with a music and song session in the village pub The Moon from 5.30pm tomorrow (Friday).

It then moves to the big marquee behind the pub for a concert starring some well-known performers from the world of folk music, including headliners Hoover the Dog, and to the village hall for a West Country Night Out with Tom and Barbara Brown from Devon.

Saturday sees various instrument workshops in the morning, where you can learn to write a tune or a song, or play the guitar, or the flute and even the Swedish nickelharpa.

There is more music, song and dance with craft demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday.

And there’ll be an “unplugged” session in the marquee where some of the main guests will share the stage with local singers and musicians and some of the youngsters who are gathering for the Young Musicians Meet.

Saturday evening sees a ceilidh in the village hall, and the big concert in the marquee is headlined by Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer – multi-instrumentalists and entertaining vocalists.

On Sunday, there are more workshops, a church service with guest singers and dancers from the festival, lots more dance displays, and the final concert in the afternoon, with a special finale, ending at 5.30pm.

Day and weekend tickets are available, with accompanied under-12s free. Booking forms are available from The Garway Moon, Broad Oak Garage or St Weonards Shop and at garway folkweekend.org.uk.
