HEREFORDSHIRE MEP Liz Lynne has spoken of her “outrage” at the Israeli interception of an aid convoy bound for blockaded Gaza this week and wants fellow MEPs to support an independent inquiry into the incident.

The Liberal Democrat said: “It appears this was an appalling attack by heavily armed soldiers on a humanitarian mission in international waters. I hope that a majority of MEPs will unite against this disproportionate action by the Israeli authorities.”

Sarmad Al-Ramadani, active in the Hereford chapter of Palestine Solidarity, said he saw the interception as “pure aggression” when the convoy had been regularly checked for weapons on route.

“This was no interception, it was a military action in international waters,” he said.
