ALMOST 500 motorists were caught using a mobile phone by police on the Welsh border within the space of a month.
Officers from Dyfed Powys were beaten only by colleagues in South Wales who reprimanded 847 drivers during a countrywide campaign this April.
Nearly three quarters of those caught in the borders area were men, the majority of which were over 25.
