Hereford United finally rediscovered the goalscoring form which has eluded them since the season's opening day as they brought Woking's lengthy unbeaten spell to a summary end.

The 'Cards' came to Edgar Street boasting a run of 12 games without defeat but irrepressible United sent them back to Surrey on the wrong end of a hiding which could have been even more conclusive.

Since a 4-0 beating of Scarborough on the opening day, Hereford had managed only 13 goals in 14 Conference fixtures.

But, with Guy Ipoua restored to the front-line and given excellent support by teeenager Andy Williams on his full Conference debut, Hereford sparkled once more.

Now all Bulls fans will be hoping this is the start of a concerted promotion push rather than another false dawn.

Ipoua should have opened the scoring in the early stages when he was put through by Jon Brady's astute pass.

But the Cameroonian, although in the clear, hesitated and goalkeeper Shwan Jalal came out to block at his feet.

Ipoua played a major role, however, in the opening goal after 28 minutes.

The big striker blocked giant defender Luke Oliver's attempted clearance and the ball rebounded to Williams just inside the penalty area.

The young striker neatly side-stepped Stuart Nethercott before driving his maiden Conference goal between Jalal's legs and into the net.

It was fair reward for Williams' skill and enterprise in recent matches.

The local boy came close to adding a second just after the break when Hereford fans momentarily thought the good start might again be wasted.

Tamika Mkandawire broke forward from defence and passed to Williams whose shot was blocked into the air by Jalal.

Mkandawire kept up his charge, however, and reached the ball first, five yards out and with the goal empty, only to lift his shot over and on to the terracing.

The disappointment was quickly tempered by an excellent second goal.

Ipoua sent Brady scurrying away on the right and his cross was touched on by Williams for Rob Purdie to nudge home at the far post.

Fifteen minutes later, Purdie was on the mark again, racing on to a fine pass from Craig Stanley, beating a couple of defenders and blasting an unstoppable shot past Jalal. Two minutes after that, Purdie took over the provider role, slipping the ball through for Ipoua to fire in his fourth goal of the season off the bar.

In the closing stages, Graham Evans had a good effort brilliantly saved and Andy Ferrell's on-target effort was blocked away for a corner by a defender as Hereford went for more goals.
