Eastnor CC entertained Chaddesley Corbett in the second round of the national village knockout on Sunday and were defeated by five wickets.
EASTNOR v CHADDESLEY CORBETT
Eastnor won the toss and decided to bat first. This soon proved a bad decision as Eastnor were 1-1 after just seven balls. It soon became 55-6 as none of the top order took control of the match. A steady recovery was started by Ferreira and Hurrell, Ferreira finally out for 23.
Big-hitting Steve Hughes joined Hurrell with the score on 112-8. With only nine overs to bat, the pair set out to build up a total which would be defendable.
They put on an unbeaten partnership of 87, with Hurrell finishing on 61no and Hughes on 47no. Eastnor closed on 199-8.
The visitors started their reply after tea and were soon in trouble at 4-1 when Ferreira clean-bowled Bowden for a duck.
A 50 partnership followed before Faisal trapped Webster leg before for 21. J Chambers carried on in fine style, with good support from P Lyman. Chambers (92) saw the visitors close to the finish, which eventually came in the 38th over, Chaddesley reaching 202-5.
