Kington Town 0 Great Wyrley 2
KINGTON'S youngsters showed great spirit but finally bowed to third placed Great Wyrley as they finished a disappointing West Midlands League Premier Division campaign with their 27th defeat and a second-from-bottom place.
Having informed the Management Committee that they may withdraw from the West Midlands League, Kington matched their high-flying visitors in all departments in what may have been their farewell league appearance.
With steadier finishing they could have been a couple of goals clear at the break, Paul Allam and Darren Jones both going close.
At the other end Bryan Kirkham made a couple of good saves to maintain parity at the interval.
It was much the same after the break but Wyrley took the lead in the 75th minute when they scrambled the ball home following a goalmouth melee.
Kington tried to come back but Wyrley hit them on the break and drew a penalty which put the result beyond doubt.
