SCOTT Moran drove his Gould GR61 to top spot in the British Hill Climb Championship standings when the Orleton driver contested two rounds at the South Hereford Garages sponsored meeting at Prescott.

Reigning champion Martin Groves won the first run-off with a 38.01 seconds drive over the 1,127-yards Gloucestershire course. Scott was second on 38.61 and Yarkhill driver Deryk Young took third with 39.35. Roger Moran was fifth on 39.52.

Groves took the win in the afternoon session, stopping the clock on 37.87. Scott Moran was a close second with 37.93, followed by his father, Roger, on 38.91.

Leominster driver Pete Bishop won the 2000cc modified sports car class in 45.59 seconds. Dave Wilson from Luston was second in the 2000cc production sports car class on 47.44. Stoke Prior racer Jim Bassett was third in the 1600cc racing car class with 42.05, and Ricky Evans from Ross-on-Wye took third in the classic sports car handicap with 54.02.
