Hereford United's director of football Graham Turner has called on the club's supporters to roar the side to victory in their make-or-break Nationwide Conference play-off semi-final second leg with Morecambe at Edgar Street tonight.

"Morecambe will be bringing maybe 500 or 600 supporters with them but we should have 10 times that amount there," he said.

"We need to make the atmosphere as hostile as possible for the Morecambe players.

"The fans were fairly quiet at the start at Morecambe but that was understandable due to the way we began on the pitch but they really warmed up later on.

"We will hope that they can take it on from there."

Turner will be hoping that his side will have overcome a couple of minor injury problems before tonight's crucial clash.

Skipper Tamika Mkandawire is expected to get over an ankle injury sustained in the warm-down after Sunday's 1-1 draw at Morecambe while Alex Jeannin has also been receiving treatment for an ankle injury sustained during the match.

But club skipper Tony James is still battling to overcome the groin injury which has ruled him out for the last six weeks.

Morecambe themselves have injury problems with doubts over three players.

Goalscorer Jim Bentley (hamstring injury) and midfielder Gary Hunter (knee) were both forced to leave the field last Sunday, while leading scorer Danny Carlton has been having difficulties with a foot injury.

The other semi-final between Halifax Town and Grays Athletic was due to be decided at the Essex club's ground last night (Wednesday).

Another obstacle to Hereford's chances of a return to the Football League has been removed after an extension to the club's lease at Edgar Street was agreed with Herefordshire Council.

To be able to compete in league football, a club has to have a minimum of a 10-year lease and one of Hereford's two leases had just nine years to run.

A deed of variation has, however, now been agreed to extend that by five years so this will not prove an obstacle in the event of Hereford defeating Morecambe and going on to success in the play-off final at Leicester City's Walkers Stadium on Saturday, May 20.
