WE were in general very pleased with the way that things went up at Morecambe where it all went well for us.

Before the game, we would have settled for the draw.

We examine the statistics of all opposition teams before we play them and with Morecambe there are two issues.

Their home record has been excellent all season and, even more impressive is their record when they have gone ahead in a match.

They have only dropped a couple of points and those were the two that we took off them when we drew 2-2 at Christie Park early last month.

They have gone ahead on 21 occasions in matches this season and gone on to win 20 of them.

So after going behind in a game of that magnitude and keeping our heads so well and eventually really starting to play, in the end we definitely deserved the equaliser.

There was a bit of controversy about the penalty but I had no doubts from where I was that it was a clear handball.

There was also controversy about the goal that was not allowed for Morecambe.

But in every game that is televised you see incidents where linesmen have instant decisions to make, borderline cases, and very often err on the side of defenders and that seemed to happen in this instance.

So we were pleased with the way the whole operation went.

For the players to come back in the manner that they did in the second half showed a lot of character and resilience because, with the amount there was at stake and the sort of atmosphere there was at Christie Park, they could easily have gone under.

Now to the home leg - perhaps there is some irony in the fact that our three away legs have all finished 1-1, but I don't think that we have had a better chance of progressing to the final than we have this time.

Morecambe's away record is not the best but I can imagine them coming here and setting up defensively, sitting deep, not allowing us any space in the final third and hoping that they can catch us on the break or at a set-piece.

We have had a concern about a couple of injuries, Tamika Mkandawire, in particular, in a freak accident in the warm-down after the game. We weren't overly pleased with that but Tam is confident that he will be fit.

Of the others, it is just a question of keeping them topped up in training and then let them loose again tonight.
