Eastnor have soared to the top of the Crusader Worcestershire County League Division 1 after registering their second success in two outings with a seven-wicket home victory over Astwood Bank.

Eastnor won the toss and elected to bowl first and Faisal brought about a steady fall of wickets. He finished with 5-17 from 12 overs as the visitors subsided for just 114.

Adeel (20) and skipper Jabran (34 not out) gave the Eastnor replay and excellent start with a stand of 53 for the first wicket and Atiq (36) then came in to lead the villagers towards their comfortable success.

Kington are close behind in second place after notching their second win when they edged home by two wickets at Alvechurch and Hopwood.

Adam Herbert bowled well for his 4-59 and the seamer was well supported by Owen Price (2-52) and Dave Exall (1-22) as Alvechurch's innings was restricted to 208-7.

Kington lost two quick wickets in reply but Exall (50) then continued his good early season form to engineer a recovery. Robbie Symonds (38), Alan Butterworth (33) and Sam Williams (30) also all batted well but it was left to ninth wicket pair of skipper Duncan Morgan (14 not out) and Stuart Turpin (seven not out) to guide the border club home.

Bromyard, who had beaten local rivals Brockhampton by nine wickets the previous week, were brought back to earth swiftly with a 140-run hammering at Droitwich Spa.

Jerome Connor, who stroked 12 fours and a six in his 101 led Droitwich to 244 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Ash Bulllock (31) and Oliver Bailey (30) reached 64 without alarm but Bromyard then capitulated to a disappointing 104 all out.

Brockhampton rallied from their pounding of the previous week to claim a winning draw with Pershore.

Ashley Nahorniak (62) led the way for the villagers who reached 225-7 before Richard Parker (5-86) starred with the ball, restricting the visitors to 222-8.
