WILKINS Fitzwilliam Chipp was a true Herefordshire hero - its most decorated soldier. Flashback recalls some highlights in his long military career, including how stuffed snakes proved to be among his greatest allies.
A Hereford business has donated the proceeds from the sale of their hand-made furniture to St Michael's Hospice.
Craftsmen from I & JL Brown Ltd made the items in their own time and totally free of charge for the charity, which was chosen because a member of staff was so impressed with the kindness and care a member of his family received at the hospice.
I & JL Brown also donated the materials, workshop and exhibition facilities and the items, including candlesticks, a hand-turned walnut goblet and a range of coffee tables will be on display at the Whitestone showroom until July 24.
"The boys have really pulled together," said Simon Hilton, showroom manager.
"Not only to show their support for one of their colleagues, but also to try and help others who may need the services that St Michael's has to offer."
