Heath Hayes 3 Kington Town 2
GOALKEEPER Brian Kirkham made a series of excellent saves to keep Kington in the game in their West Midlands League Premier Division clash between teams struggling to keep away from the relegation zone.
An uneven surface made it difficult for both teams but Heath Hayes adapted better than Kington and, but for Kirkham, could easily have been two goals clear at the break.
The opening goal came in the 55th minute when Heath Hayes opened up Kington with a slick move ending with a close-range finish.
Kington, starting to find more rhythm, took over with Paul Allam going close twice in quick succession.
More Kington pressure paid off and in the 63rd minute Allam broke down the right to cut in and square the ball for Russell Jones to sweep home the equaliser.
Kington went looking for the lead but were hit twice in quick succession as Heath Hayes took advantage of sloppy defending.
Adriano Girolami gave the visitors some hope with a beautifully struck free-kick into the top corner, but despite sustained pressure in the final 10 minutes, Kington had to accept defeat.
