Willenhall 4 Westfields 0
AFTER their superb eight-match unbeaten run which saw them charge up into the top half of the Midland Alliance table Westfields crashed to a second successive league defeat at title chasing Willenhall.
Without influential central defender Alec Winstone the visitors conceded a fifth minute goal when hesitation at the back allowed Nicky Campbell to race through and fire past Jon Pugh.
Three minutes later they doubled their lead when Pugh brought down Campbell in the box, the Alliance leading scorer John Gwilt stepping up to convert the penalty.
Derek Craddock limped off in the 15th minute, but Westfields almost pulled a goal back when neat play between Mark Hibbard and Roy Jordan saw Jordan race clear only to be foiled by a good save from former Hereford United goalkeeper Andy Debont.
Gwilt was on hand to grab his second goal in the 37th minute as Willenhall increased their lead, and should have completed a first-half hat-trick minutes later when he headed wide from close range with only Pugh to beat.
Westfields tightened their defence after the break with Scott Jackson taking command, but although creating a couple of half-chances they could not get back into the game, the lively home attack making sure of victory when Danny Coates swept in goal number four.
