KINGTON Golf Club have been awarded the prestigious English Golf Environment Award in recognition of their commitment to ecological good practice.
Over the years the greens staff have followed advice from the Sports Turf and Research Institute and the National Trust and created an environment that is conducive for bird life, insects, plants and trees.
Many species of birds frequent Bradnor Hill year, including skylarks, meadow pipits, twites, wheatears, buzzards, hobbies, merlins, dotterels, ringed plovers and pied flycatchers.
Plants and trees to be found on the hill include bracken, gorse, sorrel, yarrow, bird's foot trefoil, sheep's fescue, mat grass, wavy hairgrass, oak, beech, rowan and reed mace.
