Hereford recorded their first Gerrard West of England and South Wales League Premier 3 victory of the season when they despatched Truro on the long journey back to Cornwall with a 2-1 loss.

The city side opened the scoring when man-of-the match Colin Amos flicked the ball home from a narrow angle.

But Truro were quickly back on level terms when a short corner routine was finished off with an unstoppable shot, leaving the home side to hang on desperately to avoid conceding again before the break.

Hereford, with the returning Ian Gwilliam adding strength to their defence, looked revitalised at the start of the second period and skipper Amos fired them in front again with another flick over the grounded goalkeeper.

After this, Hereford continued to defend well to hold on to the points.

Leominster were without a fixture in North Division 3 as the ground of their hosts, University of Wales Cardiff, was unfit for play.

Hereford 3rd maintained their unbeaten record in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire 1 with a 1-0 win over visiting Cirencester 2nd.

Hereford created plenty of early chances but struggled to find the finishing touch until Justin Hunting deflected the ball into the goal from a driven pass by Richard Wenham.

Oliver Thomas and Richard Green went close to adding to the lead before half time but after the interval it took some fine saves from goalkeeper Dave Hughes to preserve the advantage as Cirencester attacked hard in search of a goal.

Leominster 2nd moved into second place in the table, ahead of Hereford 3rd on goals scored, after seeing off the previous leaders Gloucester City 3rd 4-2.

Leominster, who featured a number of promising young players, romped into the 3-0 lead and although Gloucester pulled a goal back, the North Herefordshire side scored again before the visitors snatched a further late consolation.

Simon Maxwell scored twice for Leominster with Ian Johnson and 15-year-old Will Eastman grabbing the others.

Ross are in second place on goal difference in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire 2 after their third win in three outings, a 3-2 success against previously unbeaten Cheltenham 4th.

Ross shrugged off the absence of two regular players and the withdrawal of skipper Andy Ridgway with a cut to his face after 20 minutes to take the lead through Andy Cross.

Good saves by Ross goalkeeper Dave Chatwin maintained the advantage to the interval and Ross pressed on after the break with further goals from Cross and Adrian Williams.

Cheltenham quickly cut the deficit, however, and a further strike shortly afterwards set up a tense finish but Ross defended well to hold on to the points.

Nick Evans' third hat-trick in four games helped to ensure Leominster's 4-2 win over Whitchurch in the Shropshire under-15 Badgers League. Matt Stiles scored the other Leominster goal.
