COUNTY rivals Hereford and Colwall remain locked together in mid-table in the West Clubs' Women's League Severn Division 1 after a 2-2 draw at the Racecourse.

Hereford made a bright opening and took the lead when a shot from skipper Di Feely was stopped on the goal line by a Colwall foot. Feely scored from the penalty flick.

Colwall levelled the scores before the interval but Hereford regained the lead at the start of the second period when Jess Lambert lifted the ball home from the edge of the D.

Hereford continued to dominate the game but were unable to score again and Colwall fought back to equalise in the closing stages.

Leominster are also level with Hereford and Colwall on four points after suffering their first loss of the season in a 3-1 defeat at league leaders Yate & South Gloucestershire 2nd.

The North Herefordshire side were once again forced to travel with only 11 players and, without a regular goalkeeper, skipper Carolyne Hughes stood in between the posts.

She was beaten twice in the early stages, however, and only a goal-line clearance by Jackie Duggan prevented the home side taking a three-goal lead before the interval.

Duggan was soon in the action at the other end, too, providing the pass for Karen Hackley to turn and fire home.

After the break, with youngster Jess Rutty showing up well as sweeper, Yate were kept at bay for long periods but they finally added the third from a rebound after Hughes had pulled off a fine save.

Unbeaten Hereford 2nd are two points off the lead in Severn Division 2 after a 3-1 success against bottom-club Gloucester 3rd.

Lisa Ferneyhough opened the scoring with an excellent reverse stick flick and slick inter-passing between Hayley Longstaff, Clare Milton and Anna Oliver led to another Ferneyhough goal midway through the half.

Hayley Attwood and Clare Annett defended well as Gloucester tried to hit back and the visitors eventually reduced arrears on the stroke of half-time.

Hereford were always in control after the break and the main surprise was that they scored just once more, when Sarah Boulton netted after a goalmouth scramble.

Ross had the advantage of an early Pauline Hemingway goal in their clash with Badgers but surrendered the lead to go down 3-1.

Gloucester-based Badgers levelled the score before the interval and kept Ross defenders Lorraine Stephens and Gill Badham and goalkeeper Chris Harris busy after the break with some strong pressure.

The home side eventually scored twice, converting two short corners and Ross lacked penetration in attack in their bid to fight back.

Tenbury staged an excellent second-half recovery to come back from a two-goal half-time deficit to beat Old Sills 3-2 in the Worcestershire Ladies League Division 1.

Emily Davies began the revival from a short corner and Rachel Croxton beat four defenders before hammering the equaliser.

With Tenbury pushing forward in search of a win, defenders Lindsey Aldridge, Jo Turvey, Alice Wood and Ali Day had to be alert to ensure they were not caught on the break before Oli Linton completed the win with a last-minute reverse-stick flick.

Tenbury 2nd made it a good day for the club with a 6-0 pounding of Evesham in Division 3.

Two early goals from Michele Petrie put Tenbury in control, with Kirsty Davies and Abi Thomas both scoring twice to complete the win.
