Welshpool Reserves 1 Presteigne 1

HIGH-flying Presteigne suffered a disappointment when they travelled to struggling Welshpool and were able to return with just a single Spar Mid-Wales League point.

With the influential trio Adie Bennett, Ryan Cadwallader and Mike Symonds all missing, Presteigne were below par from the outset and fell a goal behind after 20 minutes. Chris Jones levelled the scores, however, when he fired home from the edge of the area just before the interval.

After the interval, Presteigne fired in plenty of shots bit were unable to break through again.

"It was definitely two points dropped rather than one gained," said Presteigne chairman Alan Randall.

Presteigne Reserves enjoyed a rather happier fate when they saw off visiting Gwernyfed 4-3 in the Watson Associates Mid Wales League South.

Shaun Prince scored all four goals for Presteigne, with the fourth a superb 30-yard shot which screamed into the net.
