Darlaston 1 Hinton 3

HINTON defied torrential rain, a sloping and bumpy surface and a lot of tough tackling to record their seventh West Midlands League Division 1 success of the season and move up into a challenging third position.

Early Hinton pressure saw efforts from Phil Glover and Andy Mowen cleared off the line but Mowen made amends in the 25th minute when he rose above the home defenders to head home a left-wing free kick.

Darlaston levelled just before the break from a glancing header but failed to clear a corner early in the second period and Ross Semple rifled home from the edge of the box.

A frustrated Darlaston lost their way and had a defender red-carded for dissent, with Simon Gwynne immediately taking advantage to bag goal number three.

Darlaston then totally lost their discipline, with two more of their team ordered off for persistent fouling.
