Ross Town 1
Hook Norton 3
WASTED chances in the second period prevented Ross from returning with some reward from this GLS Hellenic League Division 1 West match.
The home side made a poor start and fell behind after just five minutes when Hook Norton striker Barker was allowed time and space to score from close range.
Barker scored again after 20 minutes when his drive deflected in off Glen Capewell.
Ross altered their formation to 3-5-2 and started to get back into the game but their hopes received a setback on 40 minutes when Barker turned smartly to fire past Newman and complete his hat-trick.
Almost from the restart, however, Ross pulled a goal back when Paul Burnham picked the ball up on the halfway line, beat his marker and drove home a superb shot from 25 yards.
In the second period, Burnham produced some fine approach play but he and his team-mates were unable to break through again.
Julian Addis saw a good effort tipped away by the Hook Norton goalkeeper and two lobbed efforts from Andy Sherlock just cleared the bar.
