Ledbury Town followed up their 1-0 win against Brierley and Hagley in mid-week with a 5-0 thumping of Heath Hayes.

LEDBURY TOWN 5, HEATH HAYES 0

The home side were in control from the start and when Sean Maynard was pulled back when through on goal, the free-kick awarded was powered home from 20-yards by Nicky Welch.

The impressive Neil Gardiner then crossed on the half-hour for Sean Maynard to score from close range. Half-time it remained 2-0.

After the break, Ledbury continued to dominate and on 50 minutes Nick Stockley scored from close range. On the hour, a solo run from Neil Gardiner and an unstoppable shot from 25 yards made it 4-0. Jamie Hyde completed the rout on 85 minutes.

Man of the match was Neil Gardiner.

- LEDBURY Town travelled to county rivals Wellington on Tuesday night in the league and lost 1-0.

Starting the game brightly, Ledbury were soon in trouble when the influential Nick Stockley suffered a head injury and had to go off for stitches. Five minutes later Tom Locke, making his full debut, was fouled and as he landed twisted his knee, also having to leave the field.

This unsettled the team and there were times when they lost their shape but they still managed to keep it 0-0 at half-time.

After the break, Ledbury came out and controlled the second-half, putting pressure on the home defence but they could not score.

Then on 75 minutes, Wellington broke down the right flank and crossed into the box. The clearance fell to a Wellington player on the edge of the area and he volleyed home from 20 yards.

As Ledbury battled to level the score, they had what appeared a clear penalty denied.

It was another gutsy display by Ledbury's young side with Jamie Hyde earning man-of-the-match.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Ledbury entertain Ludlow Town, kick-off 2.45pm and then on Wednesday (September 7) they are at home to Gornal Athletic, kick-off 7.45pm.
