BOSBURY won this final Marches League division four match against Ross seconds at Bosbury by six wickets, to round off another year of success and great all-round team performances.

Put into bat by Bosbury captain Steve Davies, the visitors lost D Humble in the second over, caught behind by keeper Paul Allen off Mark Wadley. The other opener J Hill was next to go, caught at slip by Gary Fletcher for five with the score on 19.

M Damsell and D Bevan staged a recovery, batting carefully to reach 50 before Damsell became Wadley's third victim as he was bowled off his pads for 31 which included six 4s. Jon Owen was brought into the attack for Bosbury and bowled his usual tight line and was duly rewarded with the wicket of A Backhouse, who was bowled for 14.

Alan Lancett soon picked up M Lovett, caught well at mid-wicket by Wadley for 7, then D Bevan followed soon after, caught behind by Allen off Owen for 28, with the score on 97-6.

Only N Tregaskes (20no) showed resistance as Ross then fell to 144 all out.

In reply, Bosbury's openers Merv Carless and Gary Fletcher had progressed to 14 when Fletcher was bowled by N Tregaskes for six, bringing Luke Ledbury to the wicket. He and Carless moved the score along briskly and brought up the 100 for Bosbury, though Carless (28) was out soon after, lbw to the talented 13-year old M Backhouse.

Dave Daffin came out to join Ledbury, but 10 runs later, M Backhouse bowled Ledbury for a magnificent 75, which included 16 4s, and then Daffin cut a delivery from T Tregaskes hard to point where M Lovett took a fine catch.

At 120-4 and with 25 needed, Bosbury skipper Steve Davies joined Darren Cooke at the wicket, and Davies wasted no time in chasing the remaining runs, hitting thee 4s and then a superb straight drive over the bowler's head for 6 to win the game for Bosbury.

Bosbury picked up another 20 points which should be sufficient to clinch the division four title, just ahead of rivals Presteigne.
