Colwall fought their way back into this league game after Swindon's O'Rourke had got the home team off to flying start in the first ten overs.

SWINDON v COLWALL

However the brief glimpse of victory was short-lived as O'Rourke had the final say with a disciplined display of seam-bowling.

Steve Ferguson has an early opportunity to get his name on the score sheet when he changed direction in mid-air in an attempt to catch the Swindon opener Beasant but the chance went down.

Australian O' Rourke attacked from the start and was punishing on any loss of line or direction. It was Jordan Kontarines who suffered most, conceding six boundaries in his first four overs.

A quick change of bowling saw Mike King introduced and his third ball provided the first wicket when he induced O'Rourke into a rash sweep which was top edged to mid-wicket, high enough for the keeper to run around and take the catch.

Chris Wheeler was replaced by Bennett who bowled effectively on his return to the first XI. At half way Colwall had restricted Swindon to 100 runs but had only taken one wicket giving Swindon an attacking platform.

Beasant perished in the attempt to accelerate and Zohaib was sent into to attack. He rattled a quick 20 before his wild swipe at King saw him bowled, as King picked up two wickets in two balls in his final over getting Baden to play on to his first ball.

Barton looked the more aggressive of the remaining batsmen and passed his 50 by sweeping King for consecutive boundaries. The 36 overs and the score on 177 Swindon would have hoped to press on towards 300, but Kontarines returning to bowl an excellent second spell and Wheeler bowling a tight line restricted the home team and set the scene for Bennet to pick up three late wickets.

To chase 250 Colwall needed a good start but unfortunately having played a trade mark cut for four David Powell in attempting to repeat the shot dragged the ball back onto his stumps and Tom Wolfendale having set himself up with four elegant boundaries was given out lbw with only 35 on the board.

Swindon's Nichols bowled well and had Nick Panniers groping for the ball outside the off stump whilst the patient Butler found his aggressive shots finding fielders.

Panniers fell to a good slip catch off the spin of Zohaib with the score on a modest 63 off 21 overs. Matt Fortnum joined Butler and settled in to build an innings. Neither batsman was able to dominate as O'Rourke came into the attack and as pressure built Butler was run out going for a risky single.

Tim Riley was the only batsmen to get on top of the bowling. From the start he was quick to exploit gaps in the field against the spinner. Having added 48 in ten overs with Riley, Fortnum was bowled as ball kept low and rolled back onto the stumps from his bat.

Steve Ferguson smashed one four through the covers before he feathered the ball to the keeper. When Riley went mis hitting a full toss to cover for 64 the distant target was abandoned in the quest for batting points.
