BOSBURY returned to winning ways on Saturday as they won this Marches League division four game against Canon Frome 2nd XI by 10 wickets.

The home captain Steve Davies put Canon Frome into bat. Davies and Mark Wadley then bowled some tight deliveries as Frome's G Whittaker and M Richards played out the first four overs for one run, then Davies struck in the fifth over, Richards edging to gully where Dave Daffin took the catch.

J Fortnam joined Whittaker and they took the score to 10 in the ninth over when Davies struck again as Fortnam was out for four runs, edging to keeper Paul Allen.

Two balls later, new batsman A Lloyd was out for a duck in the same way, edging the ball to Allen. In the next over, Wadley took his first wicket as he bowled Whittaker for four, then new batsman C Barnes struck a four straight away, but was out next ball lbw to Wadley, with the Frome total 10-5.

B Johnson and S Davies began to push the scoring and they added 49 for the sixth wicket, before Johnson was out for 19 to a fine catch off Wadley as Darren Cooke dived forward at gully, then Davies was finally bowled by Davies for 22 as he went for a big drive.

L Watkins played some nice strokes in a mature innings of 19, but he was out caught by keeper Allen off the bowling of Jon Owen, then I Newbury was bowled by Alan Lancett for 13. C Henderson was the last wicket to fall, bowled again by Lancett, leaving A Potter 0no as Frome were all out for 99.

Dave Taylor and Merv Carless began the Bosbury reply and Taylor was dropped behind the wicket in the first over from S Davies. After that, the pair set out at a good pace, with Taylor finding the boundary with regularity. He brought up another excellent 50 as the batsmen closed in on the winning total, and he struck a magnificent six to bring the scores level.

Carless, playing a supporting role, also struck some good boundaries, and hit a four for the winning runs, as he finished unbeaten on 34, including five 4s, with Taylor 59no, comprising 11 4s and a 6.

The ten-wicket victory gives Bosbury the maximum 20 points, but Bosbury are without a league game this week due to the withdrawal of the Llandrindod team. Instead, they will take on a Dominies and Guild XI in a friendly at home on Sunday.
