CANON Frome won the toss and batted first against Garnons on a very dry wicket, which proved to have a degree of inconsistency throughout the day.

CANON FROME v GARNONS

Chris Styles and Rob Mence took the opening stand to 31 before Chris Styles fell to a dreadful lbw decision for 13, the first of several strange decisions given during the match.

Andy Rogers and Neil Andrews both reached double figures before departing and when Rhod Mence fell for 1, Frome had reached 77-4 from 23 overs.

Jon Williams joined skipper Rob Mence and they took the total past three figures before Williams was bowled for 23. Seth Marshall was dismissed for six and Mence was seventh man out for 50 with the total on 136. Marcus Wrinch ended unbeaten on 19 as Frome's innings closed on 157-8.

Alan Jones and Jon Andrews got the visitors off to a comfortable start reaching 44 from the first seven overs.

Chris Styles then removed Andrews and Andy Johnson with consecutive balls as Frome sniffed the chance of making inroads into the Garnon's line up.

Jones has other ideas and raced the total up to 92 before he fell to Neil Andrews for 48 (50 balls), another lbw decision with a degree of uncertainty.

Sam Bendall and Andy Brace saw the visitors to victory inside 24 overs, Bendall ending on 42no from 43 balls whilst Brace's 41no was made from 25 balls with four sixes, four fours and a single.
