IN their penultimate Hereford and Worcester Summer League Group 1 match, Ross A came away with a 4-2 win from Stourbridge which maintains their status for another year.
Not for the first time this season, the Ross No 1 pair Chris Friend and 17-year-old Josh Gilmour were undefeated in the match, winning 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 and 7-6, 7-6 to give the visitors a marvellous start.
With Steve Hicks and Colin Foster 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 and Jamie Farr and Phil Broomhead 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 also contributing to their team's success. The result will guarantee Ross will compete again in the county's top group in 2006.
l SUTTON St Nicholas tennis player Harrison Probert is off to the home of tennis this weekend to take part in the annual Road to Wimbledon 14 and Under challenge.
Sixty-four boys and girls take part in the competition with the winners and runners-up earning a week at the LTA winter training base at La Manga.
