AS well as meeting up with old rivals Southport and Cambridge United, Hereford, as a result of last season's relegation and promotion battles, have three other new opponents this season.

United will be renewing acquaintance with near neighbours Kidderminster Harriers who return to the non-league scene after five years in the Football League.

Harriers, who are managed by former Bulls central defender Stuart Watkiss have had some well-publicised financial problems in recent months and will do well to challenge for a play-off spot.

Financial worries are not likely to worry another Conference new arrival, Grays Athletic, if the last couple of seasons are anything to go by.

The Essex club, despite smallish crowds, have apparently solid backing and a win in the final of the FA Trophy last season indicates that they may well pose a threat at the top of the table.

The final new arrival, Altrincham, make a return to the Conference after a last-day relegation five years ago.

Hereford will be hoping that this season's two games against the side from the Manchester fringes bring a better return than the single point gained on their last appearance at this level.
