ADRIAN Marshall is the new men's champion at Hereford Municipal GC after a two-shot win over reigning champion Phil Green.

Marshall shot a two-over gross score of 72 to finish ahead of Green with Stuart Jarvis a further four shots back on 78.

Jarvis' sparkling 78-16-62 was, however, enough to win him the nett cup from Peter Francis (84-19-65) and Dean Samuel (83-17-66). Marshall's net score of 72-4-68 left him in fourth position in that section of the competition.

Mark Keddie is the club's new junior champion after going round in a six-over-par 76. Gareth Hardistry was a distant second on 83 beating junior captain Jack Larkin, who was returning from injury, on countback.

n Rob Pritchard produced another fine score to top division one of Kington Seniors Summer League stableford and confirm his handicap at 5.0.

Results, division one: 1 Rob Pritchard 43pts, 2 Joe James 40, 3 Dave Lacey 39; division two: 1 John Stocker 38, 2 Ken Canton 38, 3 Arthur Thompson 36.

Pritchard then turned his attention to organising the KBS Texas Scramble at Kington which was won by the Dream Team, consisting of Dan Jarman, Darren Richard, Matt Weaver and Alan Williams.

Anita Dart, Darren Richards and Own Morgan were the winners in the longest drive competition with Johnny Morris, Mike harley, John Weaver, Dave Bradley, Howard Perry and Darren Richards successful in the 'nearest the pins' section.

There were 97 entries in all, raising £641 for the club's junior section's funds.

n The Shropshire and Herefordshire Golf Union's Chronicle Cup for 10-24 handicap golfers was played in excellent conditions at Sapey with Nick Crum from Kington (78-14-64) winning on a last nine countback from Chris Ford of Market Drayton.

The Club Team Trophy was won by Patshull, whose nett aggregate score of 203 won them the prize by three strokes from Market Drayton.

n Ross Seniors extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches with a 4 - 3 win at Cotswold Hills Golf Club in Cheltenham.

After opening four ball defeats for John Hebden and Tony Dudfield (four and three) and Gerald Turner and Alan Bebb (two down), the omens had not been looking good.

A revival was started, however, by Tim Rigden and Ron Carter (two and one), John Tecke and David Rees (one up) and Peter Spacey and Bob Cooper (two up) things were improving and despite Pat Curtis and Brian Marfell going down two and one, a halved match involving Keith Ray and Fred Stott kept things tight.

The decisive victory came from John Palmer and Frank Gallagher who recovered from being two down at the 15th with Palmer finishing in fine style to win the last three holes to claim a memorable one-up victory.

n Herefordshire GC Seniors Stableford produced plenty of good competition in both high and low handicap sections.

In the 0-17 section, Cec Morgan, with 39 points, was the winner by a single point from Jeff Burkin and Frank Hart while Ken Williams (39) was a clear winner in 18-28 section from Frank Greatorex (36) and Roy Withers (35).

In Herefordshire's mid-week Stableford, the drinks were on Jon Devereux after an ace at the seventh. Results (0-14): 1 Willy Weaver (40), 2 Peter Hebbes (39), 3 John Morrill (38); (15-28): 1 Tim Jones (43), 2 Bob Davies (39), 3 Brian Read (39).

n In Leominster's August medal, Ian Gullis romped home in the 19-28 section when his score of 86-28-58 left him seven shots clear of Tom Chadwick and Adrian Lloyd.

The previous week's competition saw Alan Shock (78-13-65) come out on top in the 0-14 section, ahead of Andy Merrick (75-8-67) and Tim Suff (81-12-69). The 15-28 section was won by Marc Childs (82-18-64), with Chadwick (86-20-66) and Lloyd (91-24-67) again filling the second and third places.

n In Belmont Seniors' 'Lofty's Fours' competition, played with three clubs and a putter, Norman Miller's 42 points won him the top prize from Peter Greening (38) and Paul Gimlick (37).

Norman Miller (89-16-73) won the 0-16 section of the monthly medal from Ian Caves (82-6-76) with the 17-28 section won by Brian Matthews (85-18-67) from Brandon Bowen (94-24-70).

Miller teamed up with Paul Gosling to carry off the combined pairs competition with their 74 points giving them a five-point cushion over second-placed Phil Skyrme and Colin Rowan.

Bill and Andrew Main (74-14-60) were the winners in Belmont's Summer League foursomes, 10 shots clear of Richard Vale and Ian Gardiner (83-13-70).

Belmont's August medal was won by Ryan Jones (78-8-70) from Luke Morris (82-11-71), Andrew Morgan (89-16-73) and Martin Dent (79-5-74).

n The Zak Dingle Golf Society's charity day at The Grove raised around £1,800 for St Michael's Hospice and Hereford County Hospital Children's Ward.

The winning 'Watch My Leg' team was Brian Reynolds, Dennis Hill, Brian Lewis and Neil Mills with 'The Wrong Uns', comprising Chris Plant, Gary Lewis, Ron Jenkins and Adam Bennett, in second place.

n In Burghill Valley Senior's Texas Scramble Fred Allen, Bill Bonham and Bill Lewis took first place with a net 61.33. John Hubert, Bren Standell and Mike Tidmarsh were second with 61.57 and George Bissell, Dennis Brown and Mick Wilde third with 62.85.

n Luctonians Society visited Cleobury Mortimer for their monthly outing.
