HEREFORDSHIRE has a new mountain boarding world champion.

Sixteen-year-old Jack Herriott, a member of the Out to Grass Mountain Board Centre at Cradley was crowned under-17 world freestyle champion at the Mountain Board Freestyle Championships in Devon.

Herriott, a former UK under-14 champion in the boarder cross discipline, had been practising hard at his freestyle technique and his efforts paid off with the top title.

Fellow team member Niki Forcast, also 16, who is having the best season of her career, may move a step closer to the ladies UK title for 2005 this weekend.

Forcast and Herriott will be just two of the boarding stars taking part in the fourth round of this year's British Championship at the Out to Grass Mountain Board Centre, between Malvern and Bromyard, on Saturday and Sunday.

Spectators are welcome to see the world's top boarders in action.
