A SPONSORED walk on the Malvern Hills helped Local Senior Section Guides to raise money for an International Jailbreak Event. Six young leaders from Girl Guiding Herefordshire, Amy Gibson, Christina Hills, Julia Smith, Kathryn Hughes, Joanna Barker and Heather Sims, plus two adults have been selected to go on an amazing trip around Europe, representing Herefordshire, as part of an International Jailbreak event.

The group have to visit five European countries within two weeks. They have to organise all the travel and sleeping arrangements themselves and have chosen to visit Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. In these countries they have to fulfil many challenges to earn their parole in Saltsburg, Austria, on August 13.

They plan to escape from The Jail in Hereford Shire Hall on July 30 at 8am ready to set out on their travels. One of the group,

Amy Gibson, a Young Leader from St Martin's Brownies and a member of Herefordshire Senior Section, said: '' Part of the challenge is to fundraise a large proportion of the money for the trip ourselves.

The Helping Hands Company in Ledbury has agreed to give sponsorship of £350 for our litter picking services to them. We have also done a sponsored walk on the Malvern Hills to help us reach our target of raising £800 each.'' Anyone who would like to sponsor them can contact Amy Gibson on 01432 340651
