NEW president of Hereford Lions Club, Martin Exell, has dedicated his year in office to supporting locally-based charities and projects which help the community. He said: "I want Lions Club to make an even greater impact on improving the quality of life of those in our community who need an extra bit of help." Martin, a farmer's son and retired engineer, lives at The Callow with wife, Christine. He served his apprenticeship with AEI, later Thorn Lighting, became chief engineer at Excellsior Plastics and then spent 25 years as facilities engineer at Rank Xerox. His hobbies include fishing and shooting and until recently flying at Shobdon. He has been a member of the city Lions Club for five years and has served as welfare chairman for the past 12 months.
