NEARLY 80 runners took part in the first Shobdon Wood Hill Race and local competitors Tim Taylor and Mike Fawcett were edged out by Leeds University's Nick Smith, who won in 34 mins 27secs. Sally Howard (Headington Road Runners) won the women's race in f 43.26 and held off a strong challenge from Hereford Couriers' Jenny Hopkins.
