POLICE in Hay-on-Wye are hunting for a slurring, beer-bellied thief after an elderly lady fell victim to a distraction burglary in the town.
At around 1pm last Thursday a man called at the house of the pensioner and managed to steal a quantity of cash without her noticing.
The suspect is described as being white, five foot five inches tall, of average build and with a beer belly. He had short wavy light brown hair and was clean-shaven.
Wearing a dirty, scruffy navy coloured anorak and dark trousers, he is described as speaking with a slur, as though 'he had a mouthful'.
