Eastnor Bowling Club has been the first in the area to register its new playing colours and has decided to give each member the first shirt free.

The English Bowling Association has brought about a 'Winds of Change' atmosphere in the game, firstly by approving pastel-coloured bowls and more recently relaxing the old adage 'Whites above the waist' by following in the footsteps of other sports, such as cricket, and allowing clubs to register a coloured shirt and logo.

Eastnor competition secretary Mr Frederick Williams said: "These shirts can be worn without ties for all matches apart from National Finals at Worthing, but so far, Eastnor seem to be the first and only club to change."
