WORMELOW brightened a washed-out weekend programme on Sunday when young batsman Ian Herbert plundered the club's highest individual score since their formation in 1965.

Herbert hit five sixes and 16 fours on the way to the milestone figure of 160 not out and set another club record with opening partner Henry Langford, who scored 67.

The pair combined to reach the highest stand for any wicket for the club with a partnership of 221 in 117 minutes as Wormelow made a total of 259-1 in 40 overs.

Herbert then took a catch as Wormelow earned a 101-run victory, after they restricted opponents Merry Millers to 156-6 in their 40 overs, despite 100 from A Nicholls.

Luctonians managed to beat the weather on Sunday against Netherton in the 2nd XI Division 1 of the Worcestershire Coun-ty League and won by three wickets.

Robert Bowen took 5-50 to leave Netherton at 182-9 and Steve Heathcote's 76 propelled them to their target.

Eastnor had a walkover in the 2nd XI Division 2 when opponents Cookley failed to raise a side.

The Flint & Cook Marches League was almost completely curtailed by the rain.

Just one match reached a conclusion when Garnons 2nd beat Bulmers 2nd by 10 wickets in Division 3.

However, Ledbury's Maurice Embrey did hit 100 before their Division 2 match with Shobdon was abandoned.

In the first round of the Pavilion Marches League Cup, Burghill & Tillington had a walkover against Ross, while Moccas' game with Goodrich was abandoned.

Only three games managed a finish in the Hereford Times Hereford and District League and the solitary match in Division 1 saw a 10-wicket win for Luctonians 3rd over Kington 3rd.

In Division 2, Bosbury 2nd made 139 and then skittled out Lads Club for 96.

On Sunday Herefordians beat Woolhope by four wickets, helped by 66 from Ben Mason.
