PAUL Fewings, released by Hereford United earlier this month, has been in talks with Nationwide Conference new boys Boston United.

Boston manager Steve Evans has been in two sets of discussion with Fewings, who has also been linked with two unnamed Nationwide Division 3 clubs.

Fewings, last season's joint top scorer for the Bulls, hails from the Boston area and such a move could mean the 22-year-old returns to Edgar Street as an opponent next season.

In addition to Dr Martens League champions Boston, there are three new faces in the Conference next season - promoted sides Dagenham & Redbridge and Leigh RMI, plus demoted Chester City.

Dagenham topped the Ryman League and Leigh were champions of the Unibond League, while Chester make the dreaded drop out of the Football League after a last day defeat by Peterborough.

United's pre-season calendar is still undecided but season ticket sales amount to £15,000 so far and there is a specially discounted price until the end of this month.

The 24-hour sponsored football marathon at Edgar Street raised around £3,000 for United, supported by the work of the St John's Ambulance and organised by the Hereford Junior Bulls.
