GARDENING giant Wyevale has confirmed its interest in attempting a take-over of another major enterprise.

If successful, the Hereford-based group would add another 39 outlets to its chain from Country Gardens.

The board of the Berkshire business has said, however, that it would welcome rival offers.

Wyevale said its proposal was equal to a price of 310p per Country Gardens' share.

Expansion would be mainly in the south-east.

In a statement, Wyevale said it was hopeful that it could agree terms for a recommended offer for Country Gardens and was hoping for further meetings with the group.
