PLANS to build a new community centre at Hay-on-Wye have moved a step further.
A management committee is being formed to tackle the centre's business plan and put forward funding proposals.
The move follows the finalisation of outline plans by United Hay and Powys County Council, which include a large hall, fitness room, sports facilities and changing rooms.
The centre will be built on Forest Road near the new medical centre, and will be large enough to accommodate the community's requests for a theatre and a cinema.
United Hay development officer, Chris Chandler, is calling for a 'broad mix' of people with relevant experience to come forward and represent the community on the committee. He says the centre can only work with the community's support.
The new committee will work with United Hay and Powys County Council.
