THE Dore Abbey Music Festival will take place from tomorrow until Sunday.
Although in style and content this Millennium Festival may differ from previous festivals, it retains its aim of providing the performance of high-quality music by high-quality musicians to give enjoyment to all.
The Friday evening concert will be given by the Elgar Chorale and Camerata, directed by Dr Donald Hunt. The programme includes works by Bach, Elgar and from South Africa. Compline will be sung after the concert at 10pm. During Saturday, Paul Spicer will lead a choral workshop; the works are Handel's Coronation Anthems. There will be a workshop concert at 5pm.
The Sunday Festival Service of Matins is at 11am. The preacher is the Rev. Canon Paul Iles from Hereford Cathedral and the choir will be the Unicorn Singers from Abergavenny. During the afternoon, pupils from Aylestone School, Fairfield High School, Peterchurch and King Henry VIII's School, Abergavenny will give a series of short or mini-concerts.
