The sunshine brought the crowds to Walton Charity harness races under BHRC rules on Saturday, and they were treated to some sizzling performances.

Lee Prices' six-year-old pacer, Bon Major, started the season in hot form and at Walton turned up the thermostat to scalding.

Despite trailing the starting gate by a heart-rending 40 yards, the gelding cruised past the field as if they were pedestrian in the heat, winning by an amazing five lengths.

In the final, he stalked his eight rivals, but, as he moved to make his run on the final bend there was a traffic snarl-up, the tough little horse was carried four wide and it looked as if his chance had gone. But 24-year-old Lee set him to rights, and he thundered up the outside to thrust his nose in front in the last stride.
