A WILD and untameable spirit will be setting the main stage alight at The Courtyard tonight when the acclaimed Adonais Ballet Company presents its stage version of Carmen.
Set in a Spain of passionate intensity and blazing emotion, this dramatic and richly evocative ballet tells the story of Seville's most famous (or infamous!) fictional female. The tale of the untamed gipsy with the morality of an alleycat but with the unyielding commitment to the 'code' of her people is a wonderfully accessible dance piece.
Feast for the eyes
This feast for the eyes and heart also makes intoxicating use of music. Fans of Bizet will not be disappointed but the whole of Rimsky Korsakov's electrifying Capriccio Espagnol and a section from Debussy's moodily atmospheric Iberia Suite add to the dynamism of this stunning ballet.
With Spanish influence in style and mood, Carmen will appeal to both lovers of classical ballet and fans of Spanish dance.
Tickets are available from The Courtyard's Edgar Street box office: 01432 359252.
