GARNONS continued their unbeaten form in defence of the Flint & Cook Marches League title with a six-wicket home win against Goodrich.

Number eight R Friend hit 50 not out, supported by 25 from D Malley, as Goodrich totalled 157-7, with two wickets each for Andrew Brace, K Knatt and Ian Strangward.

Alan Jones (42) led Garnons to victory, aided by Brace (38), Dave Brown (33) and Strangward (19 not out), despite 2-41 from Friend and M Evans' 2-48.

Leominster had a nail-biting conclusion to their Division 2 clash with Glangrwyney but eventually fell just three runs short of the Welsh side's total.

Richard Finney grabbed 5-31 and Russell Palmer took 2-36 to ensure a modest Glangrwyney score of 138-9, with opener P Cornock (52) the mainstay of the innings.

Despite Steve Cole's 41, plus contributions from Palmer (22) and Andy Dawson (21 not out), Leominster could only manage 135-9 from their 45 overs.

Tim Peters hit the only century of the weekend in the Marches League and helped Garnons 2nd to a seven-wicket win over Goodrich 2nd in Division 3. Opener Peters batted through his side's innings for 107, including four sixes and 12 fours, and was well supported by Peter Eames with 27 as Garnons took 42 overs to reach their goal.

Goodrich had made 155, with 51 for Phil Evans and 41 from P Donovan, but Eames decimated the middle order with 5-9 from just 5.2 overs, while Jim Cotterell took 4-56.

In Division 1, T Morgan made 92 of Ross' 181-6 and helped his side to a 36-run victory at home to Wormelow.

The visitors were boosted by the batting of Tom Herbert, who made 59, but two wickets apiece for D Stacey, C Gage, S Tucker and S Earl accounted for Worme-low's unsuccessful total of 145-9.

Ninety-one not out from Richard Wood guided Bulmers to a seven-wicket home win over Canon Frome after the visitors made 166-6 in their 45 overs, hampered by M Dunkerley's 3-37.

In a Division 2 match reduced to 30 overs per side, due to a car crash which held up Shobdon players, high-flying Llanvapley were shot down by their delayed visitors.

The batting of Rob Kerby (40) and Richard Lovell (34 not out) for Llanvapley was countered by 3-18 from G Jones and they finished on 121-7.

Mike Teale (40) and I Jones (39 not out) led Shobdon to a four-wicket triumph, but had to wait until the final over to overhaul their target.

Australian Darren Chatt smashed Moccas to a seven-wicket victory at home to Hay with 86 not out, after Hay totalled 162-9, with 3-30 for Joe Brown.

Chatt hit five sixes and 11 fours, supported by Ian Bannerman (25), John Davies (20) and Toby Collins (16 not out).
